Jun 20, 2010 I have to agree with the OP. Light Armor is the best armor type. Light Armor Pros Lowest Weight which allows you to move faster Certain Perks that give benefits, Stat points, Perks, etc Best Armor group to use Stealth With You don't need Power Armor Training Most common type of armor that you find, which is a great benefit with Jury Rigging.
I've been looking for a good thing to wear for a long time.
Starting out, maybe McCaffery's Bounty Hunter Duster or Combat armor after reinforced Leather armor. Later on, Vault 34 Security Armor or Recon Armor. Maybe power armor. With Dead Money, Assassin suit or reinforced Sierra Madre security armor. Strongest armor in the game is, I think, Arcade Gannon's armor from his companion quest.Squalor 00:39, May 12, 2011 (UTC)

IMO you don't really need armor. I'm by far not skilled in playing FPSs, but I do just fine with no DT at all. You've just got to be careful with your tactics and not use Energy Weapons. This Machine and the Automatic Rifle make a good loadout. If you play on console you might also be well advised to develop a jet addiction, as VATS is going to be crucial. Also, the Courier moves so slowly as it is that equipping meaningful armor makes travel excruciatingly boring. I'm the best at space!

Personally I like light armor and I stick with the reinforced leather armor. I’m not real interested in DT, I mean its important but its not the only thing to consider. For one thing I simply like the looks of it, especially when wearing the 1st recon beret. Now that Honest Hearts has added the ability to make Gecko backed leather armor its even sweeter. Raising its DT to 15 and giving it a +15 to poison, fire and radiation resistance makes it hard to beat for light armor.
I’ve considered other light armors, but I simply don’t like the looks of them. I was tempted to use Joshua’s with its +3 critical chance, but its plain ugly! Its nothing but a tattered pair of jeans and a tactical SWAT vest. The assassins suit is ok, it would probably be my second choice, but its kind of heavy (20 lbs) and weight is something I’m always aware of. The Sierra Madre armor has a decent DT for its weigh, but again its ugly as hell. I couldn’t see myself running around in yellow armor.
All in all you need to find something that offers the protection you need with a weight you are willing to carry around and personally I think you should like the looks of it as well. ReapTheChaos 23:04, May 20, 2011 (UTC)
Man I thought Joshua's armor looked cool. Aside from that I used the Sierra Madre armor with a survivalist beard Authority glasses and 1st Recon berate and I kind of looked like the son of Fidel Castro. But that was for my crit happy guns user I don't like wearing armor on him because he's supposed to be a fast. Now for my energy weapons user who *gasp* has a mediocre crit chance and a very low agility score with copious amounts of endurance wears Remnants armor. I figure if somethings worth doing you might as well go all the way.
it really depends on what character build you have. a stealth type player only needs light armor and idealy the 1st recon beret (the NPC doesnt usually see stealth characters coming). a commando type player would need medium armor (bit of stealth and tactical assault combat), so a few bullets wont kill you. if you plan on running in guns blazing then power armor is the best (high DT).
For levels 1-10, Armored Vault 13 jumpsuit, 10-15 Combat armor, then 15-30, Desert Ranger combat armor. Sorry if that don't help, but that's what I did.

Sierra Madre Armor
Concerning guns blazing, actually it's better to invest in a good light armor, like Sierra Madre reinforced or an medium armor, like Combat MkII. Power Armor will only produce much better DT if used with helmets. If you take Sierra Madre Reinforced + Centurion helmet + Nemean implant you will end with astonishing 26DT, wich is the same of T-51b, without movement constrain. What you really need is a good weapon that kills and also fires fast. LMG with AP ammo or JPS or a fully upgraded Minigun will do the job (the Heavyweight perk is advisable if you have Dead Money and play on hardcore). Fallout Nv Best Light Armor In The Game
I used the vault 21 jumpsuit when I got it (obviously) until I could get my hands on leather armor, which is easy to get at chet's. Then I worked for the Van Graffs and got their Combat Armor. Then I pillaged and plundered until I could afford the combat armor reinforced Mark 2. Only two hours ago did i discover Arcade Gammon's quest and I now use the Remnants armor. I consider that only marginally better because unlike regular power armor, it doesn't negate agility. But the best armor that's easiest to get your hands on is the reinforced mark 2. It, along with its helmet, provide light weight and 25 DT. Remnant Armor is heavy but has a whopping 36 DT.--It's a shame that Blobbersberries can't get the signature to work so this'll do. 20:49, May 26, 2011 (UTC)
